Yoga Holydays & Vacations in Goa, India

Yoga Holydays

SWAN Yoga Retreat in Goa, India, is a resolve, a dream being lived in the service of yoga and humanity.

Our team of devoted yoga practitioners received their training at Bihar School of Yoga, in Bihar, India, and have dedicated their lives to the service of teaching yoga. We strive to provide the best possible service to our guests and students alike.  Located within the lush tropical jungle -paradise of Assagao, Goa. We are minutes from the beach and just outside of the township of Mapusa in North Goa, India. Nestled in the hills of this beautiful Indian jungle, immersed in nature, our retreat center draws upon the healing power of mother nature. This immersion within creation enhances the experience of living in yoga and strengthens the connection to the higher consciousness.

Daily guided morning meditation, mantra chanting, yogic kriyas (yoga detox) and sacred fire rituals are just some of the practices which set SWAN Yoga Retreat apart from  other yoga vacations in India.

From the moment you enter our yogic village you are embraced by the vibrant, lush plant life of an indigenous Indian jungle and transformed by the vibration of the yogic sadhana and yogic rituals preformed here weekly.

Here at SWAN Yoga Retreat we are surrounded by the purity of nature, and further facilitate purification of the self through a sattvic diet and balancing yoga practices scheduled daily in our beautiful outdoor yoga shala.

This was my first experience of a yoga retreat and am really happy that it was with Swan. After a few days there I felt like part of a family as did the other guests. As night turned into day we made our way up the path to the main yoga shala, nestled among the trees, for early meditation. Delicious fruit was served later in the dinning area. An asana and prana yama class then brunch. Later in the afternoon an optional masterclass was available.

I entered SWAN with no expectations and left with plenty of good memories and a happy mind & body! Nature is plendid, the food is gorgeous and the teachers very knowledgeable. All the SWAN employees are Indians, which I find important. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean. The ambiance is friendly and genuine. The program is varied and well organised. Unfortunately the ayurvedic centre was not open yet.

“Yogic holyday, we want more” We loved this place! For us, my husband and I, it was the perfect introduction to yoga, not only the physical asanas part, but the real deal with meditation, the fire ceremonies and chanting, the yoga nidra, the yoga karma, the food, so much more than just the "workout". And located in quiet and charming Assagao. Away from the busy beaches, but close enough to go in the afternoons. We are planning another stay. Want more, and miss it already.

“More than just Yoga” We, my wife and me, had just finished university and were travelling on very low budget through Asia. Out of 6 months of travelling this was definetly the highlight which had the greatest and most lasting impression on us. We have been at Swan in March 2014 and it had gotten really hot, which made us a bit lazy. So we left the retreat only one time in 7 days.

“A place you'll never forget"
Having met alot of backpackers who'd done yoga in Goa we thought 'why not?', typed 'cheap yoga' into google and a few days later found ourselves stumbling off an overnight train into the beautiful haven that is SWAN. To say it blew us away would be a rude understatement. Not only is the setting sublime; but the amount of education, the intellectual stimulation, quality of the classes, the food (oh god the food!!) and genuine nature of the people at SWAN ensured the experience there was truly meaningful...

“A great place for yoga and wellbeing”
We stayed at Swan Yoga Retreat for ten days in early January. Coming directly from Australia with another friend at the start of our extended visit to India, we found Swan the perfect place to recharge our batteries and to deepen our knowledge of yoga. The accommodation was comfortable and spacious and we had our own little bungalow with private balcony. The food at Swan is vegetarian, wholesome and delicious. We were never hungry. The daily schedule provides plenty of variety in the way of yoga practices and the teachers are really committed to yoga as a way of life...

Yoga to us is to live in harmony with the self, with others and with the nature around us.

Our yoga vacations, yoga retreats and yoga holydays are conducted within our retreat center in Goa, India. Our focus is to obtain the right balance between mind, body and soul by creating a conducive environment and teaching appropriate and holistic yogic practices. Asana is an important aspect of yoga and we use this as a tool to understand our body, be aware of our movements and to have a healthy and flexible body. However, those who wish to use asana as a tool to build muscles, or those seeking an acrobatic or gymnastic type of practice are discouraged from joining our retreats.  Our style of asana is classical hatha yoga.

The goal of a regular practice of yoga is that our life improves, not just our physical ability to perform yoga poses.
