Yoga Retreat in Goa, India

SWAN Yoga Retreat is a resolve, a dream being lived in the service of Yoga and humanity. We are a team of yoga practitioners trained at the Bihar School of Yoga, who have dedicated our lives to the service of yoga, by means of providing the best possible service to our guests and students who come to stay with us in this tropical paradise. We are located in the lush tropical valleys of Assagao, just outside of the township of Mapusa in North Goa. Sitting on the hills of a beautiful Indian jungle, immersed in nature, our retreat center utilises the healing power of Mother Nature to help our guest enhance their yoga practice, and strengthen their connection to the higher consciousness.

Daily morning meditation classes, mantra chanting, yogic kriyas (yoga detox) and sacred fire rituals are some of the things which set us apart from the other yoga retreats around Goa. From the moment you arrive and enter our Yogic Village you will be transformed by the vibrancy of not only the lush plant life, all of which is indigenous to Indian jungles, but also the vibration of Yogic Sadhana and Yogic Rituals preformed weekly. Here at SWAN we provide our retreat residents with the purity of nature, and facilitate purification of the self through a sattvic diet and balancing Yoga practices scheduled daily in one of our two beautiful outdoor Yoga shalas. Welcome to living yoga at SWAN! Read More

This was my first experience of a yoga retreat and am really happy that it was with Swan. After a few days there I felt like part of a family as did the other guests. As night turned into day we made our way up the path to the main yoga shala, nestled among the trees, for early meditation. Delicious fruit was served later in the dinning area. An asana and prana yama class then brunch. Later in the afternoon an optional masterclass was available.

I entered SWAN with no expectations and left with plenty of good memories and a happy mind & body! Nature is plendid, the food is gorgeous and the teachers very knowledgeable. All the SWAN employees are Indians, which I find important. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean. The ambiance is friendly and genuine. The program is varied and well organised. Unfortunately the ayurvedic centre was not open yet.

“Yogic holyday, we want more” We loved this place! For us, my husband and I, it was the perfect introduction to yoga, not only the physical asanas part, but the real deal with meditation, the fire ceremonies and chanting, the yoga nidra, the yoga karma, the food, so much more than just the "workout". And located in quiet and charming Assagao. Away from the busy beaches, but close enough to go in the afternoons. We are planning another stay. Want more, and miss it already.

“More than just Yoga” We, my wife and me, had just finished university and were travelling on very low budget through Asia. Out of 6 months of travelling this was definetly the highlight which had the greatest and most lasting impression on us. We have been at Swan in March 2014 and it had gotten really hot, which made us a bit lazy. So we left the retreat only one time in 7 days.

Important information for people interested in joining our retreat.

“Yoga to us is to live in Harmony with the self, with others and with the nature around us”.

Our focus is to obtain the right balance between Mind, Body and Soul by creating a conducive environment and appropriate yogic practices. Asana is an important aspect of Yoga and we use this as a tool to understand our body, be aware of our movements and to have a healthy and flexible body. However, people who wish to use Asana as a tool to build muscles, do acrobatic or gymnastic type practice are highly discouraged to join our retreats.  Our style of Asana is from the Classical Hatha Yoga.

“With regular practice of Yoga, our life should get better and not only the poses”
